Big Brothers Big Sisters Board of Directors Wins Top Award
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Iowa’s Board of Directors is this year’s Board of the Year. This distinction was recently awarded at Big Brothers Big Sisters of America’s National Conference. The local agency was selected over 280 other BBBS agencies worldwide. The agency is also one of BBBSA’s top agencies overall and was designated a Gold Standard Agency.
The agency received this top honor for its stellar youth impact, sustainable program growth, high staff retention and a positive, healthy workplace environment. “BBBSNEIA’s Board of Directors is a group of talented, dedicated professionals from our community who have a natural-born passion for helping kids facing all types of adversity. It is an honor to be led by such a supportive, invested group of individuals,” states Katie Orlando, agency Executive Director.
Our very own Chad Swanson is an active member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Iowa’s Board. Swanson has practiced law for 21 years with Dutton, Braun, Staack & Hellman in Waterloo. When asked why he believes in Big Brothers Big Sisters, Swanson shares, "We know there are children in our community who face adversity each and every day. We know that relationships with caring adults can have a tremendous positive impact on these children. One child at a time, we can make a difference in their lives, and in turn, make our community better and stronger. Great things are happening with this organization right now, and I'm excited for its future. I'm also very pleased to be a part of this organization, and to be able to bear witness to these transformative relationships firsthand."
