Matt Craft Secures Jury Verdict in Grundy County

Matt Craft recently secured a plaintiff’s verdict on behalf of his client in Grundy County. The multi-day trial involved claims of fraudulent misrepresentation and civil theft and the jury agreed with the Plaintiff on nearly all counts. The case was one of the first trials under Iowa’s new expedited civil jury system.
Expedited civil actions applies to cases involving $75,000 or less in money damages. The goal of expedited civil actions is to “significantly reduce litigation time and cost, while increasing access to justice.” The governing rules include limits on discovery and summary judgment motions, an expedited trial, and limitations on the length of trial.
